Michelle at Twist Yarn

I opened Twist Yarn Co. in 2018 after many trips out of town to purchase nice yarn. I figured that I couldn't be the only one with an addiction to crochet and knitting, without a shop to buy locally.

I was born and raised in Penetanguishene, I have a bachelor's degree from The University of Western Ontario, and I hold a Canadian Investment Manager (CIM) designation with the Canadian Securities Institute. I spent a year backpacking through Fiji, New Zealand and Australia and I've lived in London, Vancouver, Whistler, Toronto, Barrie, and Collingwood. I guess I've 'found myself' and that's right here on Georgian Bay!

My maternal grandmother taught me how to knit when I was young. I loved going to visit her, and her neighbour Mona.  Mona was always crafting something, like those wrinkled apple faces! I've always had a passion for making things, including building furniture. I come from a long line of musicians, artists, carpenters and entrepreneurs.

My husband Joel and I have two sons and two golden retrievers. Between crochet, knitting and weaving, I have so many projects on the go at once.
